Wi-Fi doesn't always cut it for a proper home office or a busy commercial space. We install structured data cabling — properly routed, terminated, and tested — so your network is reliable, not held together by extenders and hope.

Data & Network Cabling
Behind The Job

Why Wired Points Still Matter in a Wi-Fi Home or Office

Wi-Fi has got better, but it still degrades with distance, walls, and interference in a way a wired point simply doesn't. For a home office, a business relying on point-of-sale systems, or anywhere multiple people are on video calls at once, a couple of properly installed data points solve problems that a Wi-Fi extender only partially papers over.

The install itself is straightforward when planned early — cable routed through loft space, wall cavities, or underfloor voids, terminated at both ends, and tested for performance before we hand it over. Planned alongside a rewire or renovation, it adds very little extra disruption; retrofitted into a finished space, it takes more care but is still very achievable in most properties.

FAQs

Common Questions About Data & Network Cabling

Will cabling be visible once it's finished?
No — cable is routed through voids and terminated at a flush-mounted faceplate, the same as a standard socket.
Can you set up a small business network from scratch?
Yes, including planning point positions, running cabling, and terminating a patch panel if your setup needs one.
Is wired data cabling better than Wi-Fi?
For anything needing consistent speed and reliability — video calls, larger file transfers, business network traffic — yes, a wired point is more dependable than relying on Wi-Fi signal strength alone.
What cable standard do you install?
Cat6 as standard, which comfortably covers current and near-future network speeds for home and most commercial use.
Can this be added to an existing home without major disruption?
In most cases yes, particularly where there's loft or underfloor access to route cable through — we'll assess your specific property and explain the realistic options.
Do you test the cabling once it's installed?
Yes, every point is tested for continuity and performance before we consider the job finished, not just visually checked.
Can you coordinate this with other electrical work?
Yes, it's often most efficient to plan data cabling alongside a rewire, extension, or office fit-out, so runs go in at the same time as electrical first-fix.
